This place has a large and diverse menu. They brew their own beers and have a large selection to choose from. Great place to get something to eat before seeing a movie.
The menu is so HUGE, it took is much longer than usual to decide what to order.
Overall, we found the service to be bad, the food to be mediocre at best, and the prices were high for the quality delivered. There's nothing to distinguish this chain restaurant from all the others, except it's not as good.
Four of us ordered soup (all clam chowder), and two ordered salads. The salads came out in a reasonable time (not fast, but okay). The soups were not yet ready, finally coming about 5 minutes later. The soup was not hot, and was so thick it should be called clam glop. Unappealing, especially lukewarm.
I got a pasta. It was just fair, and again not hot. My wife got a prime rib sandwich. Nothing special. Someone got ribs, which were good.
I live not too far from BJ's Brewhouse in Towson so I visit for lunch or dinner fairly often. More often than not the food is cooked to perfection. Hot items arrive hot and cold items are cold. Taste of most food items on the menu is generally very good. There are rare instances where food arrives cold when it should be piping hot but your wait person will gladly correct such errors. The wine is good for a sports themed bar grill.
Call ahead seating - we called ahead for a party of 7, but were told that BJ's could not do call ahead for more than 6. One of our party happened to drop out, so our party of 6 could call ahead and were seated promptly. There were many empty tables, so I'm not sure call ahead was necessary.
The people at BJ's Brewhouse are a cut above the ordinary in that they really shine. The wait staff are attentive during your meal and if you become a regular the staff address you respectfully by your name. I took one star off because food quality can be inconsistent. The root beer ribs are sickeningly syrupy sweet horrid but most often the food is fine!
Used call ahead seating but had to wait 10 minutes to be seated even though there plenty if empty tables. Once we were seated it took 10 minutes for a server to come over. Another 10 minutes pass before two iced teas arrive and another 5 minutes for beers to arrive. The waitress came back after five minutes to take our appetizer order. 15 minutes later only my soup came out and it was barely warm and I asked for it to be heated up some. 5 minutes later the rest of the appetizers came out and they were just warm also but tasted good. We had to ask waitress for silverware. She never came around to check on us or ask if we wanted refills. We did call a manager over to let him know about the food temperature and service. Amazingly our entrees came out quickly and hot after his visit. All the food was good as it usually is. No one came back to check on us the rest of our visit. You would think the manager would have come check on us. When the bill came there was no detail, just the copy to sign. At this point we just wanted to get out if there and we left a 20% tip because we are kind folks. We will certainly not be back and share our experience with friends and family. We will also try to contact corporate office since there was no survey to take.
I will not return.
We were served raw chicken wings and our food did not come out at the same time. Not just by a few minutes... like 20 minutes or more. We didn't ask for a discount, but nobody offered to help us or to reduce the bill. I suggest going to a smaller local restaurant.
