Today was my first time at this location and really enjoyed myself. I went with co-workers and I was skeptical about sitting on the rooftop deck because it was a very hot day, but the cool breeze and the setting sun was a perfect combination. I needed the stair climb to work up my appetite (there are quite a bit of steps), but there is elevator access to the roof.
From previous reviews, it looks like this is not the place to come to when school is in session, as the college kids can be a bit overwhelming. I would definitely return to this Turtle, but thanks to other reviews, probably not during the academic year.
The music is okay. They never play anything current but if you're drunk it's slightly enjoyable. I always have fun at the green turtle. However, don't go to the one on Towson. Especially if you're black. The manager (smallish old cigarette smoking white lady) is racist. We were there for a while starting at 6 -11ish pm. When the night time party started, she kept walking back and forth around our table. She then came up and asked for IDs. We said why are you asking for only our IDs? Others have been here the same amount of time. Why us? She started screaming and snatched the IDs out our hands. To avoid going to jail for battery we left. I told she should count her blessings tho.
My room mate and I work alot so "hanging out" isn't a every weekend thing. Even though we are both in our early 20's. We decided to go to the Green Turtle since not only myself but a couple of my friends always go there when we r out and last night was just a mess. The bouncers were complete assholes. Very rude to women. Ive seen guys stumble in before and with no hesitation are let in after showing ID. My room mate and I never made it in because he claimed she was too drunk. She went to school with the daughter of the owners and we plan on making this a big deal.
I got the crab dip and it came with pretzel twists. It was very tasty. I also had a peach crush as my drink. There were no complaints from any of my co-workers about any of the food they ordered. The waitress was cute. She carded everyone, even my 46 year old co-worker (who really doesn't look a day over 25), but we appreciate her for doing her job.
